August - Kathy J Gaul of Meetinghouse Hill Designs
On Wednesday, August 17, Kathy J Gaul of Meetinghouse Hill Designs will be highlighting her career with her lecture on "Stitching Stories of Love in Fabric and Thread.” As a child, Kathy Gaul loved the idea of designing and producing her own craftworks, each stitch an expression of her creativity. Today, as owner and operator of a Colorado Springs-based crafts business, Kathy shares her passion for the medium by offering unique dimensional wool appliqué art patterns to craftlovers. Through Meetinghouse Hill Designs LLC, Kathy provides kits with patterns, fabrics and threads, and produces punch-needle patterns, rug-hooking canvases and a sewing accessories line. She will have kits and goodies to purchase. Please plan on joining us beginning at 9:30am.
September - "My Life in Quilts: Journey of a Closet Fiber Artist"
SUE TURNQUIST will be with us for “MY LIFE IN QUILTS: JOURNEY OF A CLOSET FIBER ARTIST" on Wednesday, September 21 at 9:30am. Sue is a recent transplant to the Canon City area of Colorado so come and welcome her. She brings quilts bursting with unusual and unexpected colors, patterns, and large appliqued images. Her unique quilts are often compared to large watercolor paintings. You must get close to realize you are taking in a fabric quilt and not a masterful painting.
The half day afternoon class on Sept. 21 will be an introductory class to Sue's method of piecing curves with the design of a small landscape. During this time you'll learn the basic technique to expand your quilting repertoire and explore your own designs. Cost is $30.00 members, $40 non members. Sign up at the Programs table and get your supply list at that time. Perfect use of 4-5 fat quarters.
On Thursday, September 22, the full day class will be an intermediate class utilizing the method of piecing curves. It is not necessary for you to have taken the half day class. You'll learn the basic technique which has many applications to expand your quilting repertoire and explore your own designs. Cost is $50.00 for members and $40 for non members. Sign up at the Programs table and get your supply list at that time. Perfect use of 5-8 fat quarters.

of Caohagan Island"
The last program of the year will be Colorado's own Dana Jones. She will be speaking on "Pagtinagangay, the Quilts and Quiltmakers of Caohagan Island, on October 19. This 13 acre island in central Philippines is home to more than 100 quiltmakers. During her lecture you'll see photos of more than 50 of these handmade, one of a kind quilts, plus be introduced to the unique techniques developed by these quiltmakers whose tools are simply fabric, scissors, needle and thread.
